High-class Research for a Sustainable Energy Supply System
Energie Campus Nürnberg (EnCN) is a R&D platform for the development and demonstration of a complete energy supply chain based on renewable energy sources.
In the EnCN, IISB is working within the project “NET – electrical nets”, engaging in efficient solutions for power electronic systems for energy flow control and for interfaces and electrical storage in the power grid of the future. The goal is a supply and demand compatible conversion, distribution, provision, and use of electrical energy.
This is related to the accelerated extension of energy generation from renewable sources, the advancing de-centralization of energy supply, and the increasing necessity of the transport of large amounts of energy over long distances.
Another important issue is the future integration of electric vehicles into the energy supply and storage network. Typical demands on power electronics in these fields of application are robustness, reliability, increase of efficiency, system integration, and cost optimization.
