IEEE Energy Conversion Congress & Exposition (ECCE) 2026

Fraunhofer IISB will contribute to the

Full-day Tutorial "Stability Analysis and Validation of Complex Power Distribution Systems in Mission-Critical Grids: Aircraft, Marine, Data Centers, Industrial Microgrids, and More"

on Sun, October 4

at ECCE 2026. The tutorial will be presented by Elias Berschneider and Dr. Markus Meindl (Fraunhofer IISB), together with Gernot Pammer and Dr. Alois Hirsch (AVL List GmbH).

The tutorial provides a comprehensive overview of modern stability analysis methods for converter-dominated electrical power systems and covers:

  • Impedance-based modelling
  • Nyquist and Hall-circle stability criteria
  • State-space and black-box modelling
  • Digital twins
  • Experimental validation techniques

Combining scientific fundamentals with practical engineering approaches, it demonstrates how system stability can be assessed and ensured already during the design phase of complex electrical power distribution systems.

Fraunhofer IISB contributes its expertise in impedance-based stability analysis, converter modelling, and digital twins for complex DC power systems, while AVL List GmbH complements the tutorial with advanced impedance spectroscopy, measurement methodologies, and validation techniques for real-world power electronic systems. Together, the partners address applications ranging from hybrid-electric aircraft and marine power systems to industrial DC microgrids and data centers, supporting the development of robust and highly reliable mission-critical electrical infrastructures.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Vancouver!

About ECCE

The IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE) is the world’s premier international conference and exhibition for power electronics, electrical drives, and electromechanical energy conversion. Jointly sponsored by the IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) and the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS), it serves as a hub for energy conversion innovation. ECCE bridges the gap between breakthrough academic research and practical industry application, driving the technologies required for a sustainable, electrified future.
