Christmas comes early within Project NEWBORN
We just packed and delivered a very special delivery: NEWBORN prototypes for the 1MW demonstrator which will operate a propeller with 1 MW shaft power from a liquid hydrogen tank via 1 MW fuel cell system.
Our shipment includes the high-voltage junction box with pyrofuses for electrical power distribution on the MW demonstrator as well as the first seven high-power-density DC-DC Converters. They are characterized by a measured power density of far beyond 20 kW/kg in the 450 kW class for fuel cells and battery systems. Now, the package is on its way to Brno, Czech Republic, where our colleagues from Honeywell Aerospace Technologies are currently setting up the fuel cell power source system. Fingers crossed that it might arrive just in time for Christmas.
Then 2026 will be just around the corner, the final project year for NEWBORN, with the completion of the system demonstrator in the summerperiod as the biggest milestone. We are already excited about the many more developments, evaluations, and, not least, teamwork that lie ahead of us and our partners on our journey until then.
