Thin-Film Transistors and Circuits

Test fixtures alllow for characterization of transparent circuits on glass substates.

Thin-film devices exceed the limitations in chip size seen in traditional silicon technologies and specifically adress lower functional densities at reduced manufacturing effort. IISB is specialized on the processing of inorganic metal oxide thin-film transistor technologies in a certified clean room environment.

A typical application is found in display backplanes. IISB does research on novel circuits and functional integration for different pixelated light sources. The field of solid state lighting is adressed by high current driver TFTs for OLED tiles.

In cooperation with the Chair of Electron Devices at FAU we demonstrated  high-frequency TFTs up to 0.1 GHz for wireless data transmission to/from wearables.
