From concept definition and detailed CAD design to manufacturing, assembly, and validation, the electric machine was fully developed at Fraunhofer IISB in accordance with aerospace standards.

Key features:

  • 750 kW rated power at 21,000 rpm
  • 8 kW/kg power density using NO15 (0.15 mm) electrical steel
  • Permanent-magnet machine with hairpin windings optimized for high current density
  • Four-section distributed stator hairpin winding for improved fault tolerance
  • Direct oil spray cooling for advanced thermal Management

This motor was developed as our contribution to the Clean Aviation project AMBER, supporting the development of a 2 MW hydrogen fuel cell hybrid-electric propulsion system. In AMBER, we cooperate alongside Avio Aero, GE Aerospace, and the broader consortium, supporting the transition toward more sustainable aviation solutions.
